Our History and Story

  • Founding

Incorporated as the Westport-Weston Arts Council, the organization was dedicated to sponsoring and encouraging cultural and educational activities in the creative and performing arts. Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

  • Growth and Impact

Evolving into the Westport Arts Center, the organization became a cultural cornerstone, bringing dynamic art exhibitions and performances to the community for over four decades. Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

  • Rebranding and New Home

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the organization rebrands as MoCA Westport, signifying a broader mission and vision. It relocates to a historic stone building at 19 Newtown Turnpike, Westport, embracing a new identity as a contemporary art museum and cultural arts center. Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

  • @ MoCA CT

The transformation to MoCA CT reflects our commitment to expanding our reach and impact across Connecticut. We offer cutting-edge contemporary art exhibitions, diverse performing arts experiences, and comprehensive art education programs for people of all abilities, housed in a beautifully renovated 98-year-old stone building. Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.

With the recent purchase of our 7-acre property, MoCA CT looks to continue our commitment to the arts by growing our programming and providing exciting opportunities for community engagement and education. Sometimes it’s nice to put in text just to get an idea of how text will fill in a space on your website.
