American Buffalo

Dominic Nurre recently inherited a large number of taxidermy items from his father, who was an avid hunter in his later life. Hunting carries with it an enormous amount of cognitive dissonance, especially when hunting trophies are inducted into museums and art galleries. The animal was poached from its habitat but simultaneously archived. With mass extinction guaranteed in the 21st century, animals such as the American bison may be part of the geological archive of the anthropocene.
